Weekly Paired Reading

10th Jan 2025

Our Junior and Senior rooms take part in a weekly paired reading programme, creating wonderful opportunities for shared learning and enjoyment of books.

During these sessions, senior pupils are paired with junior pupils, and each pair takes turns reading aloud to one another. The children are free to choose their own books, which helps encourage independence, choice, and enthusiasm for reading. The seniors show great care and patience as they support their younger partners, while the juniors impress each week with their confidence and effort.

Paired reading supports the development of reading skills, listening skills, and fluency, while also building positive relationships across classes. Most importantly, it creates a calm and enjoyable reading experience that all pupils look forward to each week.
