Puppet Making Workshop

25th Jan 2026
On Thursday 22nd January our school hosted an exciting Puppet Making Workshop that brought creativity, imagination and storytelling to life.
Roen and Emilia’s granny Brigitte Wust, from Germany, shared her skills as a Puppet maker with our school community.
This was Day 1 of a two day workshop.
For day 1 we invited parents to join us. Parents and children learned to make the head of the puppet using a specially prepared pulp. The pulp had been prepared by Brigitte, Mary and Boris on the weeks leading up to the workshop, by tearing up dozens of egg boxes and soaking them in water. Next the pulp was boiled on a hob for several hours to get the correct consistency.
Brigitte brought some examples of her puppets to the workshop which really got the children excited about what lay ahead.
We learned how to mold the head of our puppets, some children choosing to make an animal head some a human head.
The puppet heads are now left to dry out fully.
On Day two, which will be held later in February, the puppet head will be painted and we will make puppet costumes.
The workshop was filled with laughter, teamwork, and wonderful expressions of creativity.
A huge thank you to our amazing facilitators, Brigitte, Boris and Mary, for guiding our students and parents in this fun and educational experience, and to everyone who participated with such enthusiasm!
It was truly heartwarming to see our young artists bring their puppets to life, a perfect blend of learning and joy!
